New Celtic signing Josip Juranovic

Celtic's backline is poised for an immediate upgrade as Croatian international Josip Juranović completes the necessary medical checks ahead of his £2.5m move from Polish champions, Legia Warsaw.

The speculation about the wing-back's potential move to Glasgow started earlier this month and gathered pace as Legia were knocked out of the Champions League by a Dinamo Zagreb side hailing from Juranović's hometown.

It's understood that a four-year contract will be announced in the next 24 hours and unlike Starfelt and Furuhashi, there is no need for Juranovic to self-isolate, as he has received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine ahead of his entry into the UK.

Whilst the signing may come to late to join Ange Postecoglou's matchday squad for today's game against St Mirren, there's a possibility the Croatian could be introduced to the Celtic faithful at Parkhead during half time.

Juranović, who was part of Croatia's Euro squad and started the game against Scotland at Hampden Park, signed off his Legia career in style with a thunderous strike in his last outing for the Polish club on Thursday night.

The 26-year-old will now arrive at Lennoxtown with the immediate task of displacing an inspired Anthony Ralston for his spot on the right hand side of a new look Celtic defence, marshalled by English stopper, Joe Hart.

£2.5m for an established international entering his prime represents incredible value in this market and Celtic fans will be looking forward to seeing their new man in action at the earliest possible opportunity.
