Ange Postecoglou provides Celtic transfer update.

New Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou

As Celtic prepared for their final pre-season friendly against David Moyes' West Ham Utd side, an encouraging update was given on new arrivals and when they can be expected at Celtic Park.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ange said:

"...we need to do more, that's probably the one area that we are chipping away [at] and we haven't had the visible results", Ange said.

Alluding to the fact that even the players we have got across the line - Furuhashi and Starfelt - are unavailable for selection due to current restrictions.

But big Ange was hopeful that within the, "next two to three weeks" the squad would be inflated with some much needed extra quality as the transfer window closes:

"We’ve got three plan As running concurrently in the positions we need players. For me, it’s about getting one of those identified and into the squad and training as quickly as possible.”

In case there was any doubt as to what the priorities were, he went on to confirm:

“You’re right, right-back is an area we don’t have a lot of depth at the moment, so that’s a key area. But there are other positions we’re still looking for players.”

It's amazing to think that Anthony Ralston is the only recognised right-back at the club after Jeremie Frimpong, Hatem El Hamed, Moritz Bauer and Jonjoe Kenny have all made their claim for the spot over the course of the last two campaigns.

From the 'three plan As' in contention, I wouldn't be surprised if we see two new arrivals, with at least one on a loan contract for the 2021/22 campaign.
