Celtic face former Champions League finalists in the Europa League Group Stages

Updated: Sep 25

Celtic will battle it out for top spot in a Europa League group containing Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis and Ferencvaros.

Matchday 1 begins on 16th September and The Hoops will finish their Group Stage commitments on 9th December. As COVID-19 continues to impose varying levels of restrictions on countries throughout Europe, the fixture list has yet to be announced.

In this year's competition the group winners will automatically qualify for the round of 16. Those in second place will progress to the knockout stage, coming up against a third-placed Champions League team for the chance to match the group winners by qualifying for the Europa League round of 16.

A third chance to play European football after Christmas is available to third-placed teams who will transition into the knockout phase of the Europa Conference League, facing the group runners-up for a place in the last 16 of the new competition.
