Celtic travel to Almondvale today, after their midweek European exploits, looking for their first win in this fixture since 2006.
Incredibly, both Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon failed to pick up three points in West Lothian during their respective tenures. And the last man in the away dugout in Celtic colours to get the win, was no other than current 'consultant', Gordon Strachan.
Ange Postecoglou's mission is to buck this trend as he prepares a team to play a competitive domestic match on an artificial surface for the first time in his career.
Despite defeat in midweek and not being able to call on top scorer Kyogo Furuhashi (knee) for the rest of this month, Celtic go into this match as heavy favourites against a Livingston side who have picked up 1 point from a possible fifteen so far this campaign.
Albian Ajeti has been tasked with leading the line in Kyogo's absence and the Swiss international has bagged three goals and contributed well to the team's overall attacking play, in his last two outings against Betis and Ross County.
The 24-year-old will be hoping he has the opportunity to continue his good form but as reported in the Daily Record, Postecoglou confirmed that last season's Eredivisie top scorer, Giorgos Giakoumakis, is in line for his Celtic debut this week:
"I’d hope he’ll be involved, if not on Sunday then definitely in the League Cup on Thursday. I get that people want to see new players but it’s going to be a long season and he’s going to be an important player for us."
I suspect Ajeti will keep his place in the starting eleven today but we may well get our first glimpse of our new number 7 as a substitute at some point this afternoon.
