Is this Argentinian international on his way to Celtic?

Celtic target Fabricio Bustos

Celtic stepped up their defensive recruitment drive this week with the arrival of Joe Hart and now it looks like Ange Postecoglou could be one step closer to ending his quest of adding an experienced right back to his new look squad.

After the departures of both Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Elhamed at the beginning of 2021, Anthony Ralston started the new campaign as the club's only recognised right full-back. And despite a solid opening day performance against Hearts, where he grabbed Celtic's only goal, he is not seen as the long-term solution at the club.

Enter Fabricio Bustos, as French publication, reported that RC Lens have dropped their interest in the 25 year old, leaving both Santos and Celtic as front-runners for his signature.

Current club, Independiente, who can claim Sergio Agüero and Diego Forlan as two their most successful European exports, are believed to be looking for a fee in the region of €4m for the four-time capped Bustos.

Bustos certainly fits the mould of the 'Postecoglou full-back' and at 25 years old he should be entering his prime as a footballer.

Affectionately known as 'El Tractor' in his homeland due his high work rate, determination and ability to cover all blades of grass on the right flank, it's hard not to draw comparisons to former fan favourite, Kieran Tierney.

We also know that it's a position crucial to Celtic's new style of play under Postecoglou so it's no surprise to see a player, in the shape of Bustos, linked as the next signing through the doors at Parkhead.

The only hurdle may be the need for Bustos to quarantine as Postecoglou has recently voiced his frustrations at this process, especially with the additions of Starfelt and Furuhashi.
